✦ Synopsis


XAFS measurements of the Ni and the Fe K-edges are carried out for Ce(Nil-~Fe~)2 pseudo-binary alloys with MgCu2-type Laves structure. XAFS results of CeFe2 show close agreement with the ab initio calculation, while those for CeNi2 show rather poor agreement. Concentration dependence of a lattice parameter for Ce(Ni~ _ xFex)2, which exhibits large negative deviation from Vegard's law, can be attributed to the decrease in Ce-Ni interatomic distance with increasing Fe concentration.
