An investigation of ultraviolet absorption and excitation spectra of Cd,\_,Mngl, crystals is reported. At lower temperatures, T< 77 K, it is shown that a number of lines are associated with the manganese ions. No assignments are given for room temperature excitation spectra because the Mn2+ states a
