โœฆ Synopsis

Because of the anatomical features associated with situs inversus, technical difficulties will be encountered during orthotopic liver transplantation. This report describes the case of a patient with situs inversus totalis and end-stage liver disease from biliary atresia who was treated by segmental orthotopic liver transplantation. The segmental graft was safely placed in the left subphrenic space, and a suitable orientation was iliary atresia is the most common indication for B liver transplantation in children. Although the

The problem of graft size is one of the critical factors limiting the expansion of adult-to-adult living donor liver transplantation (LDLT). We compared the outcome of LDLT recipients who received grafts with a graft-to-recipient weight ratio (GRWR) < 0.8% or a GRWR 0.8%, and we analyzed the risk fa

Transplantation of reduced-size livers may lead to a hypermetabolic state and increased production of oxygen radicals. Since oxygen radicals may cause liver injury and impair liver regeneration, we tested the hypothesis that overexpression of superoxide dismutase (SOD) in reduced-size livers (RSL) w

Adult-to-adult living donor liver transplantation (AA-LDLT) has better outcomes when a graft weight to recipient weight ratio (GW/RW) > 0.8 is selected. A smaller GW/RW may result in small-for-size syndrome (SFSS). Portal inflow modulation seems to effectively prevent SFSS. Donor right hepatectomy i
