A whitepaper from the Alexis de Tocqueville Institution is coming out strongly against open-source security in comparison to proprietary operating systems. The ADTI report Opening the Open Source Debate says that the US Government should think seriously before implementing open-source software. The white paper advises that governments should not depend on open-source software, as this could be hazardous to a country's national security infrastructure.

Governments around the globe have started to consider open-source as a serious option for implementation. The German Government has openly endorsed Linux as government friendly while the US Government is also introducing it. The entire German Government will be standardized on Linux.
