"L'integrazione" Γ¨ un romanzo del 1960. Narra la storia di due fratelli intellettuali, Marcello e Luciano, che si trasferiscono da Grosseto a Milano, con l'obiettivo di compiere una "mediazione" tra l'Italia centrale e l'Italia del Nord. Γ una critica aspra e amara, ma anche divertente, dell'industria culturale ed editoriale milanese nel periodo del Boom economico. Le nevrosi quotidiane del mondo editoriale sono qui satireggiate in modo spietato, tra riunioni e discussioni senza senso e il ticchettio incessante dei tacchi a spillo di segretarie tanto volenterose quanto inutili. Il romanzo puΓ² essere visto come il secondo tassello di una "Trilogia della rabbia" avviata con "Il lavoro culturale" e culminata con "La vita agra". Con una scrittura corrosiva, Bianciardi ha modo di prendere di mira anche il comportamento quotidiano dei milanesi: "Guardali in faccia: stirati, con gli occhi della febbre, dimentichi di tutto tranne che dei soldi che ci vogliono ogni giorno [...]. Sgobbano, corrono come allucinati dalla mattina alla sera, per comprarsi ciΓ² che credono di desiderare; in realtΓ quello che al padrone piace che si desideri." Una descrizione di ieri, ma tanto attuale ancora oggi.
