Hereditary factors play a major role in the etiology of idiopathic generalized epilepsies (IGEs). The pivotal function of ionotropic gamma-aminobutyric acid type A receptors (GABRs) in inhibitory neurotransmission in the mammalian central nervous system suggests that they may be involved in epilepto
