✦ Synopsis
For a communication system using LEO satellites, a simpler method that will improve link transmission efficiency is indispensable in cost reduction. A new link control method is proposed to improve packet transmission efficiency for store and forward communication systems using LEO satellites. With this method, the throughput is improved by controlling the request of user terminals by the control packets from a satellite allocating slots for infomation packets in reserved frames of variable length. Performance of the pro@ method is evaluated by computer simulation; the result has revealed that the method improves the throughput twice as much as the variable calling rate slotted ALOHA system.
