โœฆ Synopsis

Traditionally, birefringent, double refracting crystals and, more commonly, polarizers based on oriented polymers comprising dichroic additives are employed to generate linearly polarized light. [1ยฑ4] The latter are based on selective absorption of light, with its obvious drawbacks. Here we introduce uniaxially oriented, polymer blend sheet-polarizers that allow generation and analysis of polarized light through anisotropic scattering. By proper selection of materials and processing conditions, phase-segregated polymer blends are produced in which the refractive index of the dispersed phase matches the ordinary refractive index Fig. 3. ## Abstract The availability of efficient lowโ€cost ultraviolet (UV) film polarizers is of vital importance to a number of applications, which rely on the use of polarized light in the nearโ€UV regime. We describe here the preparation of such elements based on stretchโ€oriented films comprising poly(v

A new family of homogeneous polyolefin polymers that exhibit unique molecular and rheological properties designated polyolefin elastomers (POEs) are characterized by a narrow molecular weight and high degrees of comonomer distribution. Because these copolymers are often elastomeric in nature, one of
