✦ Synopsis
A series of linear weak polyelectrolytes containing P-cyclodextrin pendant groups was synthesized by chemical modification of poly(1-vinylimidazole). Studies on their solution behaviour as a functon of pH and the nature and ionic strength of added salts showed original features which are explained in terms of competitive residue-residue and residue-solvent interactions and anion binding to cyclodextrin moieties.
