The polarization of the triplet-triplet absorption spectrum of phenanthrenedro in the region from 3500 to 8500 A has been recorded. The 3BI state is located at about 4250 A. The possibility that phenanthrene might be a suitable chromophore for laser dye synthesis is discussed.

β¦ Synopsis
The tempenture vtiation of the half-widths of the two Davydov components of the phenanthrene tirst singlet tranG tion is described in terms of weak exclton-phonon cotipling The phonons invokd in the scattering processes zre identified as librational lattice modes.

## Abstract The basic theoretical ideas about the influence of the magnetic susceptibility of the sample material on the nuclear magnetic resonance line position and width of powder samples are discussed. Three different effects may occur the respective influence of which could be derived from mult
By using resonance-enhanced two-photon ionization in a supersonic beam, photoionization spectra of the 0(0)0 band of the first singlet-singlet electronic transition of 35Cl-, 37Cl-, 79Br-, and 81Br-C6H5 have been obtained at a rotational temperature of 1 K. The ions have been analyzed according to t
