β¦ Synopsis
Using a difference frequency spectrometer we have measured the widths, shifts and line mixing parameters of many lines in the fundamental band of CO perturbed by N 2 at approximately 50 kPa and 301 K. The spectral resolution was 6 1 10 05 cm 01 and the typical signal to noise ratio exceeded 2000. The spectral data are more extensive and more precise than the data currently used in the HITRAN92 database. At the 1% level we have reached the limit of accuracy with which a Lorentzian model will represent the data.

The collisional relaxation of the J = 5 β 4 rotational transition of CO induced by carbon monoxide, nitrogen, and oxygen has been studied at room temperature. Pressure-broadening parameters were determined as 3.29(2), 2.61(2), and 2.30(2) MHz/Torr for CO, N 2 , and O 2 buffer gases, respectively. Ex
A high-resolution three-channel diode-laser spectrometer was used to record a large number of spectra with 14 N 16 O 2 and foreign gas pressures ranging from 0.1 to 0.4 and 20 to 150 Torr, respectively, at room temperature. The 6.2-m region corresponding to the 3 band of NO 2 was analyzed and the br
We present accurate broadening coefficients for many lines of the fundamental band of CO highly diluted in He and Ar at 301.5 K. It is shown that a soft collision model gives a reasonable fit to the data at pressures up to 1 atm. A distinction is drawn between the accuracy with which fitting paramet
