✦ Synopsis

In this paper we present the results, obtained from September 1990 to October 1991, of a collaborative program between the Torino Astronomical Observatory and the Astronomy Institute of Catania University, which started 3 years ago, devoted to the determination of the rotational properties of the asteroids, to enlarging the available data set, and to obtaining bias-free photoelectric observations of small objects. We have determined reliable synodic rotational periods for the asteroids 122 Gerda ( (P=) (10^{\mathrm{h}} 332 \pm 0^{\mathrm{h}} .004) ), 137 Meliboea ( (P=15^{\mathrm{h}} 28 \pm 0^{\mathrm{h}} 02) ), 160 Una ( (P=5^{\text {h }} 61 \pm 0^{\text {h }} .01) ), 168 Sybilla ( (P=23^{\text {h }} 82 \pm 0^{h} 004) ), 377 Campania ( (P=8.507 \pm 0.003) ), 454 Mathesis ( (P=7.075 \pm 0^{\mathrm{h}} 025) ), 550 Senta ( (P=20^{\mathrm{h}} 555 \pm 0^{\mathrm{h}} 01) ), and 937 Bethgea ( (P=8.356 \pm) (0^{\text {hh }}).006). For 500 Selinur we obtained an estimate of about (9^{\text {h }}) of the possible spin period. 1994 Academic Press, Inc.

We present the results of photometric observations of 1996 FG 3 , 1998 PG, and (5407) 1992 AX. Each asteroid has a complex lightcurve that can be described as the coaddition of two independent components, one with a short synodic period P 1 of several hours, and another with a longer synodic period

The analysis of radar observations of the asteroid 4179 Toutatis by Hudson and Ostro (1995, Science 270, 84-86) yielded a complex spin state. We revisit the visible lightcurve data on Toutatis (Spencer et al. 1995, Icarus 117, 71-89) to explore the feasibility of using a rotational lightcurve to rec
