Contrary to pure crystals the light intensity scattered in doped crystals in general is not only considerably higher but also non-symmetric in the forward direction. Both the enhanced htensity and naa-symmetry indicate that light scattering is caused by particles not very small. This means the impurity is not completely solved in the crystal but is partly precipitated forming colloidal scattering centres. Iu some cases cylindrical precipitations oriented into crystallographic directions occur together with spherical ones as was shown by means of light scattering measurements (HAURET et al.).
