✦ Synopsis

Scattering properties of a system of complex particles can be represented by N Γ— N random matrices. Our approach relies on the application of random matrices, originally developed in nuclear physics and later applied to mesoscopic systems. We extend this idea to study light scattering by an ensemble of irregular particles. Some results are discussed based on analytic and numerical methods, including a discussion of the limiting case of N β†’ ∞ and the 1/N expansion. Numerical results are also presented for the angular dependencies of the intensity and the polarization of a random particle and of a cubic array of point-like particles.

## Abstract This work deals with the application of the static light scattering (SLS) model of Vrij (VM) for the characterization of a spherical polydisperse concentrated polymer particle system. This model is the exact solution for the SLS of such mixture of particles in the Percus–Yevick approxim
