✦ Synopsis

The spectral distribution of light scattered by density fluctuations is calculated for dense monatomic gases. The constitutive equations used for the stress tensor, heat flux and internal energy are the linearized Burnett equations for a dense gas of hard spherical particles. For moderately dense gases it is shown how the frequency spectra evolve with the density of the gas.
