โฆ Synopsis
The cross section for light scattering from superfluid helium in which bound roton pairs are created is calculated in a simple model, taking into account both the excitations themselves and their coupling to the light. It is shown that the depolarization ratios from bound and from noninteracting roton pairs are the same, in agreement with experimental values. Since the continuum (scattering) states for the interacting pairs are neglected here, the bound roton pairs give only a ~-Ji~nction line shape, in contrast to the noninteracting roton pairs.

Rotons and impurities such as ions or solvated 3He particles can interact via dipolar forces from the flow fields of the roton and the motion of the impurity through the background fluid. Stable bound states of rotons to impurities can occur with near-zero total momentum. We give explicit results of
Stimulated by recent high-resolution neutron data from ILL, we have carried out an extensive numerical study of the single-particle pa (Q, w) and the two-particle p2 (Q, w) spectral densities within the well known Ruvalds and Zawadowsld (ZS) scenario, over a wide range of wavevectors (1 < Q < 3~-1),
