Physical simulation is one of the more sophisticated c-a.d. techniques. Its variants range from the simulation of electronic circuits -avoiding the time consuming stages of wiring of a 'breadboard' circuit on the bench, followed by testing with an oscilloscope, through applications to the design of aircraft (see the paper on 'An analysis of the dynamics of automobiles during simultaneous cornering and ride motions' by R.
