## Abstract Guiding properties of optical fiber with Kerrβlike nonlinearity are studied numerically using the finiteβdifference beamβpropagation method to solve the scalarβwave equation. The nonlinear fiber is shown to support fields with longitudinally invariant radial distributions having a meanβ
