✦ Synopsis

Lifetimes of the vibrationless levels of the B state of CHJ and CDs1 have been measured using a tunable deep UV ( = 200 nm) femtosecond source. The lifetimes of the predissociated states are 1.38 + 0.20 and 1.84 k 0.13 ps, respectively. These values are compared with those obtained by indirect measurements which are described in terms of the multidimensional character of the reaction coordinate.

The fragmentation behavior of CF3I in the resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI) spectrum through the electronic C state is investigated. Rotational bandshape simulations are used to establish the existence of an inhomogeneous predissociation of the resonant intermediate state. Difference
