Positron lifetime spectra have been measured on plastically deformed Zn-doped p-type GaAs with strain ranging from 0 to 15% at room temperature. The lifetime spectra were analyzed using PATFIT and MELT programs. Two lifetime components were observed in deformed samples. The second lifetime t 2 $ 400
The positron lifetimes in alkali halides are calculated assuming the outer shell electrons of the halide ion to form an 'electron plasma' which is capable of concentrating around the positron. The calculated annihilation rates are found to be in good agreement with the experimental results.
An erhpiri&l model is used to calculate the lifetimes & in alkahe earth fluorides. The results are analyzed to bring out the importance of thk (e+-anion) system in the lotion of positrons in ionic cqstais.
