โฆ Synopsis
Under a licensing agreement with Verdix Corporation, Apollo is to offer versions of the Verdix Ada Development System (VADS) on its family of Domain workstations and server products.
VADS is centred on a production compiler for Ada that is compliant with ANSI/MIL-STD 1815A, the Ada programming language standard.
Under the agreement Apollo will market and support VADS, which will be modified and validated to run on Domain/IX (Apollo's twin port of the Berkeley 4.2 and System V Unix). Verdix will modify and validate VADS to run on Berkeley version, and Apollo, which has bought a license for the VADS source code intends to modify and validate it for System V Unix and its Aegis operating system.
Niel Clements, Apollo's Market Development Manager said that 'the demand for Ada is growing significantly in many of Apollo's markets especially those related to defence and other Government funded areas including the scientific and aerospace industries.' (Apollo Computer (UK)
