In the present investigation, over 270 site measurements of noise levels are carried out in the Hong Kong residential areas. Results show that the noise climate is a good parameter for classifying the characteristics of the noise level time #uctuations. The relationships between percentile levels an

✦ Synopsis
In this paper, we study the concepts of level-continuity and proper local maximum points of functions defined on a topological space X and, on one hand, we establish that, under adequate conditions, f is level-continuous if f is without proper local maximum points and, on the other, we prove that level-convergence and variational convergence (F-convergence) of functions are equivalents when the limit function is level-continuous. Let G be a locally compact commutative group and let g and h be positive definite functions on G, which are not identically zero. We show that continuity of gh implies the existence of a character y of Gd (the discrete version of G) such that yg and y h are continuous. As corollary we get a special
