โฆ Synopsis
To the Editor: C. Granata Response to Letter to the Editor From RA Kaslovsky I read with interest the letter by Kaslovsky et al. in response to our recently published report on a case of bronchioloalveolar carcinoma (BAC) in association with cystic adenomatoid malformation (CCAM). 1 His case of BAC arising in an 11-year-old girl who had an incomplete resection of CCAM 2 was published while our case report was awaiting publication. Dr. Kaslovsky's experience adds further support to the concern that CCAM can act as a premalignant lesion for the development of BAC. Several reports regarding adults with BAC arising in cystic lesions of the lungs have been published over the years, 3 but in those reports it is often unclear what the primary cystic lesion was. Some of these were probably CCAM and, therefore, the true association between BAC and CCAM has possibly been underestimated. I agree with Dr. Kaslovsky's conclusion and believe that our two reports make a strong argument for early and radical resection of CCAM.
