β¦ Synopsis
There are many ways to learn a language. But my philosophy is that it should always be fun and natural. Remember how you learned your language? Did you feel like studying when you were learning your mother tongue? Probably not. And I think learning a second language should be similar. It might not happen in a day, but the process should also be natural and joyful.
What inspired me to create this book goes back to my childhood. When I was young, I used to fall asleep listening to English audiobooks. And even though I didnβt realize it at that time, it helped me tremendously. I found myself murmuring the English words and sentences from that book in the most random situations of my ordinary life! I wasnβt even on my desk putting a lot of effort, but one day I was able to say some words, then phrases, then sentences!
I want to create a similar experience for you as well. Learning through stories can go a long way. You can naturally pick up repeated words and phrases used in sentences, commonly used grammar, the pronunciation of Korean words, the general intonation of the language, and so much more.
This book contains 10 Folk Tales of Korea. Anyone who spent their childhood in Korea has heard of these stories. These are some simple plotted stories that even children can understand, so it is perfect for language learners. I included the original Korean rewritten by me, and the English translation as well so you can compare the words between Korean and English.
Lastly, I also added words and phrases used in the story so you can later memorize and take notes.
Additionally, I will provide you FREE videos from my Korean Unnie Youtube channel so you can use it as an audiobook, and you can listen to it anywhere, at any time. This will allow you to use these two sources as a way to practice four essential parts of learning a new language: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.
This is how: First, listen to my video over and over while you are reading the book to know how I am pronouncing the words. Listen to it over and over until it gets used to your ears and you can follow me along. After you get used to it, try to read it by yourself out loud. When you are used to the content, listen to my audio and write down my words without looking at the book. This is called dictation. This can help you both with your Listening and Writing. Then compare your writing with the book. Lastly, try to read your writings, now at this point, you probably naturally memorized all the scripts. Then you will be able to start speaking some lines in situations that you probably have never expected. It may seem hardcore, but it works.
