✦ Synopsis
Loss of electrolytes, specifically Ca2+, K f and Na' into ambient fluid was found to occur from cassava plants treated for 3 h with a culture filtrate of Xanthomonas cantpestris pv m i h o t i s and from cassava plants infected by the pathogen. Leakage from both tests were significantly different from leakage from two sets of control plants placed in distilled water and in casamino-galacturonic acid medium. Loss of electrolytes from treated plants has been used to explain a few of the external symptoms of the disease caused by X. cumpestris pv manihotb.
