When leaders ask people to change, they must expect resistance at the intersection. Leaders must discern, deliberate and decide on the fitting response to challenges that arise at the intersection. To discern, deliberate and decide effectively, leaders must reβexamine their core values and assumptions about identity (character); clarify relationships with others in their environment (civility); and maintain strong ties with their primary network of discourse and practice (community).
