โฆ Synopsis
n an August morning in the summer of 1885, the sound of bells could be heard throughout the city of New York. Over a million people had gathered to honor the memory of Ulysses S. Grant. His coffin, flanked by Union and Confederate officers, moved slowly through the crowded streets in a procession that stretched for miles. Grant's problems with scandals in his personal and professional life had not diminished his popularity. He was seen by many, particularly in the North, as the military leader who saved the Union during one of the most traumatic periods in U.S. history.
