✦ Synopsis
The superconducting transition temperature has been determined in a series of L2_x_yI~yCexCu04 (L, E = La, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd) superconducting oxides with a T' structure. Analysis of the electrical resistivity and the Seebeck coefficient has allowed us to separate, for the first time in superconducting cuprates, charge-transfer effects from the intrinsic pressure effects on the dependence of :ir e on the interatomic distances. We have found that at a constant free charge density, T c increases with increasing cell dimensions and pressure always leads to a decrease of the in-plane electron density.
