Abstract
Lateral phase separations of phospholipids in both bacterial membranes and model membrane systems (phospholipid bilayers) can be studied using spin labels. Temperatureβcomposition phase diagrams have been determined for binary mixtures of lipids dispersed in excess water by measurements of changes in the fluidity of the membranes as a function of temperature. These results have been used to interpret similar fluidity changes in bacterial membranes. There is evidence that the coexistence of fluid and solid lipid domains facilitates transport through membranes.

Phase separation phenomena of polyetherimide (PEI)/solvent/nonsolvent systems were investigated by measuring their precipitation values over the temperature range from 20 to 50Β°C. The solvents used are N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP), dimethylacetamide (DMAC), and dimethylformamide (DMF). Nine nonsolve

Phase separation of poly(vinylidene fluoride) dimethylformamide solution was induced by the penetration of water vapor, and the porous membrane was formed. As the humidity in the gas phase increased, membrane morphology changed in the order of dense, porous (cellular), and lacy-like structures. At t
