✦ Synopsis

Abstract

The complex PtCI~3~ (9‐methyladeninium) has been prepared in acidic media and its laser Raman spectrum has been recorded. The spectrum shows small but interesting changes in the vibrations of 9‐methyladenine upon platinum complexation. A comparison of the laser Raman spectra of the free and protonated 9‐methyladenine with that of the complex indicates that platinum coordlnation at N‐7 produces small shift and important perturhathfons of the band intensities of the parine ring vibrations. This result is in agreement with the crystal structure data, which show small local electronic effects when platinum coordinates at N‐7.

## Abstract The laser excitation wavelength is an important parameter in obtaining definitive Raman spectra from pharmaceutical drug substances. This paper investigates the effect of changing wavelength on the Raman spectra of four different drug substances: paracetamol, paroxetine and ranitidine (
