โœฆ Synopsis

Very high resolution measurements of hyperfinc structure on the P(l3) and R(15). 43--O, '11o+ -'xi transitions in iodine 127 were tnade using laser molecular beam spectroscopy. The observed linewidth was 30tkHz (fwhm) giving a resolution of 5 X lo-'o. The observed spectrum was fitted to obtain a quadrupole coupling strength difference of AeQq = 1906 + 2 MHz and a spin rotation interaction strength difference of Ac[= 181 + 7 kHz between the upper and tower levels of the P( 13) transition. F'or the R(15) transition AeQq = 1905 * 2 MHz and AC1 = 167 i 5 kHz.

The J ร… 1-0 rotational transition of 14 NF 3 has been measured at high resolution in a pulsed jet Fourier transform microwave spectrometer. The transition is split into three major components due to the nuclear quadrupole coupling constant of the 14 N nucleus; these in turn are further split into hy

The Zpa, u=O, N=2-lsa, v= 18, N=3 transition in Hz hasbeen observed at 156632.8 MHz. This transition shows a cbaracteristic structure which we assign in terms of hyperfine, fme and electronic g/u symmetry-breaking effects.
