✦ Synopsis
The parameters, thickness, 6, and concentration change, Ac, of the diffusion layer were studied as a function of time t using a Mach-Zehnder laser interferometer during and after electrodeposition of copper on vertical electrodes . 6 and Ac were found to increase linearly with t 11' up to the start of the transition to steady state in CuSO, and CuSO,-H,SO, solutions . These are in agreement with the known theoretical predictions . Most of the diffusion coefficients calculated from the obtained results agree well with the published values . After removal of the cathodic current, log Ac was found to decrease linearly with t"' .
