✦ Synopsis

CH2 has been produced by CO&ser multiphoton dissociation of acetic anhydride. Selected levels of the %"Bl state of CH= have been populated by dye laser induced excitation from the zstate. The fluorescence Spectrum of the glBr-?Ar traztition has been measured to determine vibrational and rotational constants sf viirationally excited ('&(z 'A~) up to the (2,0,0) and (0,3,0) levels.

Laser-induced fluorescence of CsH from the A 1 Z+ electronic state to the X t \'\* state was recorded using high-resohxtion Fourier transform spcctrometry. Ground-state vibrational levels were observed from v" = 1 to the dissociation limit. These measurements showed anomalies in the X 'E+ potential

From a comparison with the spectrum of NiF, a low-lying 2 ⌺ Ο© state is expected to lie in the first 2000 cm Οͺ1 above the ground X 2 ⌸ 3/ 2 state of NiCl. The identification of this 2 ⌺ Ο© (v Ο 0) state (at 1768 cm Οͺ1 ) has been carried out through the analysis of two electronic transitions 2 ⌸ 3/2 -2
