✦ Synopsis

Emission spectra from two vibronic levels (Sr and 1'4l) of HzCO (X, lA2) have been obtained after a tunable dye laser excitation. From the measurement of the emission intensity distrlbutlon under varying pressures, the radiative transition rate from the 5' level was found to be = 1.8 times greater than that from the 1'4l level. Thus confirms the earlier suggestion that us mode enhances the emission rate, inconsistent with the expectation based on the absorption.
