✦ Synopsis
The reflection coefficient over any surface is of fundamental importance in determining the radiation balance over that surface. Hitherto not enough information has been available for natural vegetation surfaces in the tropical environment. In this paper an attempt is made to present the seasonal and diurnal characteristics of the reflection coefficient in Nigeria and the results of field observation have been applied to obtain a land-use and reflection coefficient map for parts of Nigeria where detailed land-use studies have been undertaken. The results show significant variations from the generalised map of the country.
