<span>Philoxenos Yuhanna Dolabani (1885-1969), Metropolitan of Mardin, was an important figure in the Syrian Orthodox church in the twentieth century and a prolific scholar, most of whose works remain unpublished and unknown to Western scholarship. Bishop Gregorios Yohanna Ibrahim has here given us
<span>The encyclopedic lexicon of Bar Bahlul (10th century) explains Syriac words, as well as Greek words met in Syriac literature, in Syriac and Arabic. Vol. 3 includes an introduction and indices for the individual languages and biblical passages cited.</span>
<span>Rahmani offers in these volumes a range of Syriac texts with Latin translation and brief commentary. The texts range from historical and hagiographical to liturgical and exegetical. The fifth volume presents (in Syriac only) Anton of Tagritβs work on rhetoric.</span>
