โฆ Synopsis
PETER' has pointed out two errors in a recent paper by one of the writers =. The first is that equation 62 of J. COaNER'S approximate method 3 should read g= 7 "+1, whereas the corresponding assumption of the Adams method' should read g= T". These two expressions were interchanged in the printed version due to a clerical error. The expressions for the eigenvalues, and the conclusions about the relative merits of the theories, are unaffected by this amendment.
The second error concerns the attribution to K. A. WI~D~ ' of the approximate procedure for solving the flame equations in which g is taken as of the form r l+a, where a is chosen to satisfy the differential equation at the hot boundary. Closer examination of Wilde's paper shows that he did not choose the exponent in this way, but in a way that amounts to his carrying out the Corner second approximation.
