**Addition of nitrogen trioxide to indene and alkylindenes** N~2~O~3~ adds to indene and homologous yelding pseudonitrosites which are converted to aminoindanes. Treatment of the pseudonitrosites with alcoholic potassium hydroxide gives the correspondent nitroindenes.
