Dans un jeu de rôle littéraire sur Internet, Vital choisit d'incarner le lieutenant Drogo, personnage central du célèbre Désert des Tartares de Dino Buzzati. Cela pourrait n'être qu'un simple divertissement, mais voilà... Vital approche de la quarantaine et trouve dans cette légendaire figure romanesque bien des similitudes avec sa propre vie montréalaise: le milieu de la vie, l'attente déçue et le désenchantement du monde, entre autres.
