✦ Synopsis


Eight two patients underwent 86 Kiintscher Y nailing for impending and pathologicalfractures of the proximal femur. All but five mobilised post-operatively, thus improving their quality of life. Eighteen patients died in hospital. Prophylactic nailing improved survival Fifteen out of 86 nailings were followed by complications.

R~sum~. Quatre-vingt-six clous de Kiintscher en Y ont dtd mis en place chez 82 malades pour fracture, ou risque de fracture pathologique de l'extr~mitd sup6rieure du f6mur. Tous, sauf cinq, ont pu ~tre levds aprks l' op6ration, ce qui leur a permis de quitter l'h@ital, ameliorant ainsi leur qualitd de vie. Dix-huit malades sont dgcdd~s d l'hOpital. L'enclouage prophylactique augmente la dur6e de survie. Quinze de ces 86 op6rations ont 6td suivies de complications.
