The mechanisms underlying insulin resistance in Type 2 (non-insulin-dependent) diabetes mellitus are not fully understood. An enhanced lipid/non-esterified fatty acid oxidation could provide an explanation. To test this hypothesis we examined the relationship between glucose and lipid metabolism in
