✦ Synopsis
Power splitting and combining circuits with asymmetric structure characterized by unequal linewidths of split lines and a splitting point shifted from the center have been developed. Amplitude and phase splitting characteristics comparable to those of conventional splitting circuits have been achieved. This eight-way power splitting/combining circuit with asymmetric structure has been used to develop a Ku-band power amplifier. Calculations and experiments show that both the gain and power of the Ku-band amplifier with asymmetric structure are superior to those of conventional high-power amplifiers with symmetric structure.
