โฆ Synopsis
On the other hand, nitrofluoren-9-ones are n-acids and form charge transfer complexes with polyalkylbenzenes (n-bases). Alumina supports are basic. Acid-base interaction (interaction between acid and base) can be considered when separation is performed on an alumina plate. The order of strength of n-acids, nitrofluoren-9-ones is the order of increasing number of nitro groups. As a result, the elution order of these compounds on alumina is the order of the strength of acids nitrofluoren-9-ones. The reason why the Rf of 2,7-dinitrofluoren-9-one is generally the smallest is not clear from this study.
