β¦ Synopsis
The temperature dependence of the electrical resistivity of dilute alloys of manganese dissolved in silver was measured in the range 0.3-12 K. These data complement previous work on this alloy system. The Kondo effect contribution to the resistivity was separated from effects arising from impurity-impurity interactions and from scattering by the lattice. Our data are the first to support the d-wave unitarity limit in the free electron approximation." The resistivity due to exchange interaction at 0 K is Jbund to be 9.1 lif~-cm/at % when potential scattering is taken into account. The dependence on impurity concentration of the temperature at which the resistivity is a maximum was compared with Matho and Beal-Monod' s theory, but, as predicted by Klein's model, it is still, to a very good approximation, directly proportional to the concentration. This fitting gave a value of the distribution width parameter consistent with the concentration-independent slope of the resistivity at 0 K. A Kondo temperature between 10 and 40 mK is consistent with our results.
