The problem of approximating functions is considered in a general domain in one and two dimensions using piecewise polynomial interpolation. An error estimator is proposed which shows how to adaptively determine the interpolation degree. Numerical examples are given.
Given two planar curves, their convolution curve is defined as the set of all vector sums generated by all pairs of curve points which have the same curve normal direction. The Minkowski sum of two planar objects is closely related to the convolution curve of the two object boundary curves. That is,
Analysis of growth curves of microorganisms by piecewise linear approximation
The approximation of plane curves by smooth piecewise circular arc curves In Tchebycheff norm is analysed. The algorithm of approximation is proposed. It is proved that algorithm presented generates for curves of some class, called spirals, the minimal number of circular arcs. Results ere used to ev
