✦ Synopsis

This work examines the potential contribution of computerized litigation systems in the judicial process. It analyzes the support factors, financial factors, workflow and case management applications of such systems in 17 individual contributions by specialists in the field. The popularity of litigation support systems is established with many firms going ahead with pilot or operational systems despite the costs involved. The individual contributions examine many different aspects of the subject from the value of litigation support in the workplace to the logistics of its establishment and the training of staff in its deployment. The strong desire by some to keep abreast of technology beyond the calculated expectation of direct return is noted. The second text is The Electronic Superhighway -The Shape of Technology and Law to Come, by Mackaay, Poulin and Trudel (EDS.), 1995, soft cover, 193 pp., £62; US$97; NLG145, ISBN 9041101357. This book presents the proceedings of a one day conference held in Montreal on 13 May 1994 on the subject of The Electronic Superhighway-The Shape of Technology and Law to Come. The Conference was organized by the Centre des Recherche en Droit Public of the Universit~ de Montreal with the cooperation and financial support of several other public or commercial organizations.
