✦ Synopsis
DSO Fluid Handling Co Inc has announced that the company will now offer Elastoguard rubber compounds from Milliken Chemical to maximize antimicrobial protection in rubber parts for food processing equipment.
The components include rubber pump rotors, rubber air valve stems, balls for ball check valves, sanitary pipeline gaskets and O-rings. DSO manufactures high-volume replacement parts for processing plants in the ready-to-eat food and dairy industries, as well as for cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. It selected Elastoguard antimicrobial heatcured rubber compounds for their increased protection against bacterial and fungal growth, through a new, powerful biocide that is effective against a greater variety of bacteria and fungi.
The new biocide -Alphasan® silver-NZP ionexchange resin -permeates the entire rubber matrix after vulcanization. Low migration means it maintains a higher and longer level of protection. It processes more easily because it is not sensitive to heat or shear, so it can also be used in elastomers for a variety of processes. The compounds' launch was reported in Sealing Technology last July.
