King's County is the story of John Waller, following his career in the military of 2065, his meritorious advancement to their version of a space program, then his return in 2092 and his struggle to fit in to the new military and then to civilian life. The world Waller leaves behind has its problems. The world he returns to after 26 years in space has become much worse and much more ridiculous.
