✦ Synopsis

Abstract

The copolymerizations of N‐vinyl‐2‐pyrrolidone/styrene and N‐vinyl‐2‐pyrrolidone/methyl methacrylate—both systems with extremely different reactivity ratios—have been investigated in a recording dilatometer equipped with a thermo‐couple. The shrinkages of the systems can be described by the theory of Wittmer. The necessary values for the homopolymerizations as well as the binary reactivity ratios have been determined. The shrinkages have been verified independently by density measurements.

## Abstract The rates of the binary copolymerizations of __N__‐vinyl‐2‐pyrrolidone, styrene, and methyl methacrylate were investigated dilatometrically. In both systems with __N__‐vinyl‐2‐pyrrolidone as one of the two monomers the rate of copolymerization can be described by a theory of Abkin, wher

The polymerization rate of the ternary monomer system, styrene, N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone, and methyl methacrylate, was investigated in bulk at 60 "C with AIBN as initiator. The results were interpreted by means of the well known classical reaction model and a newly derived simplified reaction model. Th
