The lumen of thyroid follicles contains a high concentration of thyroglobulin, the thyroid prohormone and a high concentration of calcium (Ca 2/ ). As thyroglobulin binds Ca 2/ , intraluminal Ca 2/ is expected to be in free and protein-bound forms. In the present work, we have investigated the mecha
